Which is the best 5.1 stereo SACD player?
Universal players such as the Pioneer LX500 has just the HDMI and two channel RCA out, optical will convert to PCM. If you want 5.1 then the universal player is best. Standalone SACD players are usually stereo analogue out only. Transport will be HDMI only, Denon DBT 3313 an example.
Can a standard CD play a SACD file?
A standard CD player cannot play a disc formatted with SACD. If you purchase an SACD player to use at home, that technology is backward-compliant with the traditional formatting. Some SACDs have dual layers, with PCM content that you can play on a standard CD player or PC.
