Can you switch out receiver protection while transmitting?

This circuit was designed to be used in a contest station, and actually switches out the receiver protection while you’re transmitting. Not only that, it seems way too complicated for your application.

When does an amplifier go into protection mode?

Many amplifiers will illuminate their protect LED during the mute delay (when you initially power up the amplifier). After a short delay (2-10 seconds), the protect LED will go off. For those amplifiers this is normal. Other amplifiers ONLY illuminate the protect LED when there is a problem.

What to do if your Sony receiver is in Protector mode?

It basically said open it up, clean out the dust, and then disconnect and reconnect every connector you can get your hands on. I’d already vacuumed out the inside (which wasn’t really dusty anyway), but proceeded to disconnect and reconnect every connector in there, and there’s a BUNCH.

Is there way to protect front end of SDR receiver?

That’s pretty compelling, and not a long parts list for the first circuit. Thoughts? He was looking for a way to protect the front end of his SDR receiver when he was transmitting.

Is there such a thing as a receiver protector?

AS-RXFEP – Receiver Front End Protector. Protects your preamp and radio from excessive RF and lightning (Replaces ICE 196 and 197 RF limiters/protectors). Strongly recommended for receiving antennas/systems.

What is the as-rxfep receiver front end Protector?

Array Solutions AS-RXFEP Receiver Front End Protector. I kind of like this one, as it doesn’t appear to need any control signal. It costs $55, though. The schematic is at The white packages contain transformers.

How to protect a receiver front end from lightning?

Install a receiver front end protector with lightning protection •A Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) is used to minimize catastrophicdamage from lightning •A GDT probably won’t protect the receiver front end ESD •ESD is frequently reported as the cause of receiver front end failures •Risk mitigation: bleed charge off of every antenna

What happens to receiver protector in low power?

In the low power state, the receiver protector is, effectively, inactivated. In this state, the desire is that the component be well matched to the transmission line so that the returning echo signal can pass through to the receiver with as low an insertion loss as possible.

That’s pretty compelling, and not a long parts list for the first circuit. Thoughts? He was looking for a way to protect the front end of his SDR receiver when he was transmitting.
