How do I connect my Technics turntable to my receiver?

The receiver has a built-in phono preamp with an input labeled “PHONO”. All you have to do is plug your turntable’s audio signal cable into the receiver’s phono input. Just below the phono input is a metal post labeled “GND”, for ground. Connect your turntable’s ground wire (if it has one) to this post.

How do I connect my Technics turntable to my speakers?

Connect the RCA (red and white) plugs from the turntable cable to the included RCA (female) to 3.5 mm (1/8″) mini-plug (male) adapter cable, making sure to match red plug to red plug and white to white. Then connect the adapter cable’s 3.5 mm mini-plug to the powered speakers’ Line Level* input.

Does my Technics turntable have a preamp?

To check if the turntable has a built-in preamp, check if there is a LINE output. A turntable with a LINE output always has a built-in preamp. If there, on the other hand, is a PHONO output only, the turntable doesn’t have a built-in preamp.

Do I need a receiver with my turntable?

In order to connect various video and audio components to a speaker you generally need a receiver. It has inputs for the different components and an output for the speakers. The receiver allows you to connect your turntable, record player, CD player, TV, etc.

Can a turntable be connected to a receiver?

The turntable then has to be connected to a receiver with a built-in preamp, or to a standalone preamp that connects between the turntable and the receiver. A receiver with a built-in preamp will have a PHONO input. If it has, it is perfectly ok to connect your turntable PHONO output to the PHONO input on the receiver.

Can a phono output be connected to a turntable?

If it has, it is perfectly ok to connect your turntable PHONO output to the PHONO input on the receiver. If neither your turntable or receiver has a built-in preamp, you’ll have to get hold of a standalone preamp that connects between the PHONO output on your turntable and one of the line level inputs on your receiver (LINE, AUX, CD, TAPE, etc.)

What do you need to hook up a vintage turntable?

Unlike most audio sources you connect to a stereo (DVD/CD players, iPhones, etc.), the output from the cartridge on a vintage turntable is MUCH lower. It requires additional amplification and some EQ to bring it up to a proper signal. This additional amplification is called a phono preamp.

How do I connect my turntable to my Marantz receiver?

The phono stage is in the turntable If the receiver doesn’t have the built-in phono preamp, which, for example, happens in Marantz budget product lines. In this case, you should connect the vinyl player’s audio output to one of the analog audio inputs on the back of your receiver. And also connect the ground.

Do you need a pre amp to connect a turntable to a speaker?

If the turntable has a phono pre-amp built in, it needs to be turned off before you connect the turntable to the receiver. If it doesn’t, you’re going to need a separate phono pre-amp to convert the phono signal to line signal. The last step is to simply connect your receiver to your speakers.
