How do I get Atmos on my receiver?

Unless you are satisfied with your TV’s internal speakers, HDMI is a requirement for Dolby Atmos. Whether your Dolby Atmos content is coming from a Blu-ray disc, a streaming box, or even from a built-in app on your TV, the only way to get that signal to your AV receiver or soundbar is via HDMI.

What should I set crossover frequency?

The most common crossover frequency recommended (and the THX standard) is 80 Hz. On-wall or Tiny ‘satellite’ speakers: 150-200 Hz. Small center, surround, bookshelf: 100-120 Hz. Mid-size center, surround, bookshelf: 80-100 Hz.

Do you have to have top middle speakers for Dolby Atmos?

As only in the ‘Front Dolby’ set up does it actually mention Dolby Atmos speakers, but my speakers, as mentioned, will not be front up firing speaker but ceiling speakers. So do I choose ‘Top middle’ set up? It’s just that ‘Top Middle’ does not mention ‘Dolby Atmos?

Mine is a denon receiver too 1300. Keeping up with technology is like being a best man at a wedding. You have the suit, but then realise you need a shirt and tie to match. On my receiver, the speaker configuration doesn’t give me option of 5.1 etc, it just says speaker size, small or large.
