Why do I have to keep resetting my Hopper?
A hard reset is the to-go troubleshooting method by ‘switching it off and back and on again’ and will usually fix issues with your Hopper losing video or audio, losing signal, or facing any hardware issues. A Hopper which is constantly rebooting itself is most likely experiencing a hardware issue.
What should I do if my AV receiver turns itself off?
Replace it with a new fuse of the same amperage and voltage (available from electronics parts stores such as RadioShack for about 50 cents a pop) and you should be back in business. If, after your fix, the receiver powers on, but then turns itself off after a few minutes, it’s possible something is physically damaged inside.
Why does my Onkyo receiver not turn on?
This is usually caused by shorted output transistors. I have seen some Onkyo’s with driver transistor problems or power supply problems but the majority of them have shorted output transistors, along with a couple of open resistors, an open emitter resistor and another bad transistor.
Is it possible that my AV receiver is toast?
A: It’s possible that your receiver is toast, but don’t give up hope yet. There are two things to check. Many modern receivers have “protection circuits,” bits of specialized hardware that recognize dangerous levels of volume and shut your hardware down, like a digital fuse. Some receivers communicate this on the display.
What to do if your AV receiver is on the Fritz?
If your receiver is still on the fritz, you may have blown a real fuse. Some receivers have a screw-in fuse in the back of the unit that can be removed and inspected easily, while others may have one or more fuses inside the case–you may have to unplug the unit, remove the case and root around inside to see.
What does it mean when your receiver won’t turn on?
It sounds like the receiver is going into protection. This can be an internal problem or it could be a problem with the speakers or the wire connecting them to the receiver. Check that there is no stray wire shorting at either end of the speaker wire. If you found a short repair it and try turning the receiver on.

What are the problems with my Yamaha receiver?
The receiver sees it is a dolby signal coming in (I have it set to auto), but can only get sound fromthe 2 main speakers. Even when I put it in test mode, I only hear tones from the 2 main speakers. I moved about a year ago, but only recenlty hooked up sub, centre and rear speakers. It used to work fine.
Why is my Toms Guide receiver not turning on?
If it does shut down disconnect the other speaker. If it now turns on and stays on then the problem is with that speaker wire or speaker. It it still shuts down then the problem is internal to the receiver. Time to get a new one. Repair would likely cost way more than the unit is worth. First, I apologize for not responding sooner.
