How hard is it to damage a subwoofer?
As others have said, how hard it is to destroy a subwoofer depends greatly on the design. If it is an older design, odds are good that it would be easy to destroy it by simply turning the volume higher.
Is it possible to bottom out a subwoofer?
It’s still possible to bottom out a driver with that design, but it’s pretty much impossible to actually destroy the amp or the sub. It’s technically still possible to cause some damage if the driver bottoms out. But if that had happened, you definitely would have known it!
Is it possible to bottom out an outlaw sub?
Your Outlaw LFM-1 EX sub uses a BASH amp, which just has soft clipping and a regular old limiter. It’s still possible to bottom out a driver with that design, but it’s pretty much impossible to actually destroy the amp or the sub. It’s technically still possible to cause some damage if the driver bottoms out.
When to use soft clipping on a subwoofer?
Most use “soft clipping” for when the signal calls for more power than the amplifier can deliver. And more and more, we’re seeing companies use DSP processing or servo feedback to keep distortion well under control and over-excursion (aka. bottoming out the driver) a total impossibility.
How to connect a subwoofer to a receiver without a speaker?
Example of a powered subwoofer with 2 types of signal inputs (speaker level and RCA jacks) along with sound controls. Note: Not all subwoofers have speaker level inputs, which makes it a problem connecting them to a receiver without a subwoofer output.

Can a subwoofer be set to the highest frequency?
Your subwoofer should be physically set to the maximum frequency because your receiver is processing the signal. The LPF is a silly feature and should be set to the highest frequency possible.
What does.1 mean on a subwoofer?
The “.1” is used to represent a sound channel limited to only bass for optional subwoofer use. Example of a powered subwoofer with 2 types of signal inputs (speaker level and RCA jacks) along with sound controls. Note: Not all subwoofers have speaker level inputs, which makes it a problem connecting them to a receiver without a subwoofer output.
