How many models is the Yamaha rx-v471 AVR?

Months have passed without seeing one then, like buses, Yamaha launches the five-model strong RX-Vx71 lineup all at once. We got our hands on the baby brother the Yamaha RX-V471 AVR.

Is the Yamaha rx-v471 a good DSP?

To celebrate the 25 years since the launch of its Cinema DSP technology, Yamaha’s fledglings get some cutting edge features and obligatory eco-friendly credentials, too. While the flagship RX-V771 looks stunning on paper, I suspect this was a ruse by Yamaha just to tease us, because the RX-V471 turns out to be an absolute corker.

Where is the mic on a Yamaha rx-v471?

A single press of the remote has the full-colour GUI overlay sliding up from the bottom of the screen offering a raft of easy-to-follow options. Is there a standby mode on the Yamaha rx-v471?

There is no video upscaling, but you do get HDMI input switching in the frugal 1.2W standby mode for those days when you just want to watch and listen to the TV. At all other times the RX-V471 delivers performance to set your socks on fire.

Is the Yamaha rx-v661 7.1 channel AV receiver?

One of the drawbacks to the RX-V661 is that it cannot display its onscreen display over the HDMI output. This can occasionally be frustrating if you’re watching an HDMI source and would like to change a setting on the receiver, as you have to switch to an analog input–on both the receiver and the TV–to bring up the onscreen display.

Can a Yamaha rx-v661 connect to an iPod?

There’s some additional connectivity, such as an iPod dock port, which allows you to connect to Yamaha’s YDS-10 iPod dock. The RX-V661 also comes with an XM port, so you only need an XM Mini-Tuner and Home Dock to get reception, with a subscription, of course. There’s onboard XM Neural processing, so it can decode XM’s surround sound channels.

What does Ypao do on a Yamaha rx-v661?

The RX-V661 offers automated speaker calibration in the form of the Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO) system. It uses a microphone to determine the sizes of your speakers and their distance from the listening position and to balance the volume levels of all speakers and the subwoofer.
