Then press and hold the power button down for 5 seconds, and continue to hold while plugging it back in. Hold the power button for another 5 seconds, or until the unit turns on.

Recently had the same issue, as my Panasonic SA-BTT755 player was getting the F76 error message when powering on. I ordered a 150uF @ 400V replacement from eBay as the existing one was crowned and replaced it using a soldering iron.

Here is how I fixed it. When the power button was pressed a ‘Please Wait’ message showed for ~5s then F76 appeared for 0.5s and the unit powered off. Google told me that F76 was a power problem on lots of Panasonic Home Theater models, so I unplugged the unit and took off the cover.

If your machine has a code 76 and when you open it up and DONT see a blow area. Put cover back on and power up when it asks you to wait press and hold power button for 5 seconds and it should be fine. Did this today while listening to an electonic repairer, works perfectly now. Hi brucegennette.
