How to repair TAC integrated stereo power amplifier no sound?
A customer of mine brought to me the TAC Integrated Stereo Power Amplifier With the Model of AV-355 for repair. The complaint was no sound but have power. Usually the first thing I do was to connect a speaker at the output jack to see if the sound really not present. Another test is to check the output DC voltage at the speaker output jack.
Is the Onkyo tx-8511 audio video control receiver good?
It currently powers 11 components and produces great sound. Loyal and hard working. Very powerful, punchy sound with low noise. A great amp. Excellent receiver with plenty of power and features. Unfortunately one of the caps have blown on the board and even after replacing the cap I still get a protect error once the receiver initializes.
What to do when your amplifier goes into Protect Mode?
When it goes into protect mode the amp will shut down with the standby light blinking. You did not tell us if you got out of the protect mode or if you need help with that. Unplug the receiver’s power cord from the wall and leave unplugged for at least one hour. Remove all speaker and audio cables from the back of the receiver while waiting.
What to do if your Onkyo amplifier goes into Protect Mode?
Turn the receiver on and turn the volume to the maximum setting. Leave the receiver on for 30 seconds. If the receiver shuts off and goes back into protect mode you will need to contact your Onkyo dealer. Turn the volume back to the minimum setting and turn off the receiver.

Can a power amplifier be added to an A / V receiver?
If you’re fortunate enough to own an A/V Receiver that has preamp outputs to connect an external amplifier, then doing so is quite straightforward. You simply connect a pair of RCA terminated line-level cables from the front or main channel preamp outputs of your A/V receiver to the inputs of the external two-channel power amp.
Is it good to add an external amp to a receiver?
If you compared that to my older Onkyo 805 (bench tested to output over 185watts per ch) that has a monster power supply. Ive been running an external amp ever since in my theater room and even with my mains being over 90db efficient I can tell they have alot more breathing room than when running on the receivers amps.
What are the symptoms that lead to decision to ” recap ” an amplifier?
What are the symptoms that lead to decision to “recap” an amplifer & what electronically happens to lead to those symptoms? thanks. I re-capped my Adcom GFA-555II simply because the amps were known to have leaky audio capacitors, and I did so as a preemptive move.
