Is it better to connect components to receiver or TV?
By all means connect to receiver and then one cable to the TV, using the ARC HDMI input. If you’re streaming using the smart TV functions, my experience with ARC for that purpose is that it works a treat. Also, if I have a choice I use optical from the TV to the AVR.
What do I need to hook up an AV receiver?
You will need something the strip the wire back, typically a wire stripper, dykes, or utility knife will work. Be careful first to not cut yourself, and second to not cut off the copper strands inside the wire jacket. You only need to strip back enough so the bare wire can go into the back of the receiver and speakers.
What kind of wire do I need to connect my speakers to my TV?
Cables – You need cables to connect your sources to your receiver. Typically, you’ll use those red and white audio cables for this. Speaker wire – You need speaker wire to carry the audio from your receiver to your speakers. A/V stand or shelf – Any piece of furniture with shelves will do, as long as you can run wire between each shelf.

Connect the KT-87 tuner to the KC-207 control amplifier. Use an analog stereo cable (the red and white type) from the tuner’s “Output” into the controller’s “Tuner” input.
What kind of cable do you need for an AV receiver?
If you have an older TV or receiver that lacks ARC, connect an optical digital audio cable between your TV and receiver. Of course you’ll still need the HDMI connection for the video signal. Yamaha’s AV Setup Guide app helps you plan and complete your component connections.
Do you have to hook up speakers to a receiver?
Prepping the speaker wires can be a tedious job, but take your time and do it right. You need secure connections that will stay put for years. Connecting bare speaker wires to a receiver is a real pain. You’ll be making at least 10 connections in a crowded pack of input jacks.
What kind of cable do you use to hook up a subwoofer?
Click to expand… You can use a splitter cable that has one RCA jack on one end and two RCA jacks on the other. That will split the subwoofer signal from the receiver into two, and then you can hook up both of your subs. The speaker terminals are used if you want to connect a high-level connection from the receiver (or amp) to the sub.
