Is the ICOM 761 a solid state radio?

ICOM’s IC-761 is Ihe latest HF entry from I the Land of the Rising Sun. It is a fully solid state, digital displayed, highly sophisticated radio communications device, I know those are not words normally used to describe a piece of ham radio equipment, but the 761 is no plain piece of ham radio gear.

Is there a problem with the display screen on the ic-7610?

IMHO, it’s not whining and/or complaining or the word “display screen” in the topic heading that affects any potential buyer, seller, owners of the IC-7610, it’s the Fear of finding out and/or hearing bad news on something that is most desirable for one’s ham shack!

What can you do with an IC 761?

Naturally, the 761 can be used as a very effective short wave receiver. It can also be remotely controlled by computer via an RS-232C/seria I-port connection. The instruction manual that comes with the 761 is the best laid out manual I have seen in several years.

Why does the ic-7610 not need heat sinks?

I conducted these tests because it was reported that the IC-7610 did not really need the heat sinks at all because the PCB design provided adequate temperature dissipation IAW using the ADC chip manufacture’s recommended PCB mounting requirements to keep the temperature at or below 85 degs C.
