My Panasonic DMR-EZ48V dvd recorder has developed a fault. 1. After plugging in the mains power I get the message PLEASE and WAIT alternating on the front readout This eventually clears and it then displays 0.00 (flashing). 3. After a further 1 minute and 8 seconds the Code U6 1appears quickly followed by the figure 3, the letter D and in red VHS.

Unfortunately you’ve got the worst of the Panasonic EZ recorders, which for the most part aren’t all that great. The EZ-48v is full of bugs, quirks and design flaws. You can exchange and return all you want and you’ll probably not get one that works for much longer a month. Sorry to be so blunt but the EZ-48v is that bad.
