Is there a way to replace a PIR sensor?
Just looking for a bit of advice regarding the alarm system in my house. One of the PIR sensors looks to be faulty – it will flash on and off randomly and repeatedly for hours, even when nobody is in the room – so I want to replace it. I have a spare sensor so I was hoping to swap in the new one myself rather than pay an expensive call-out fee.
How many wires do you need to replace a Pir?
Cover each wire as you disconnect it from the old PIR. Make a note of which colours go to which terminal before you start and swop over any resistors fitted between terminals to the new unit. Normally there are 6 connections but occasionally the 24 Hr circuit is left empty and only 4 wires connected.
What to do if your PIR has a faulty battery?
Alternatively you can power down the panel by removing the fuse and disconnecting the back-up battery inside the alarm panel but if you do your external sounder will trip and wake up the neighbourhood – unless you know the engineer code.
How big is the sensitivity of a PIR sensor?
Sensitivity range: up to 20 feet (6 meters) 110 degrees x 70 degrees detection range Power supply: 3.3V – 5V input voltage, BIS0001 Datasheet (the decoder chip used) RE200B datasheet (most likely the PIR sensing element used)

Can a PIR sensor be added to a Hilux?
If you have a Ford Ranger or Toyota Hilux with a factory alarm system you can now add motion detection to the canopy with the AVS OEM PIR sensor. This sensor connects into the vehicle’s factory alarm system for a cost effective upgrade.

What should I do if my PIR is not working?
All of the above is sound advice. Before you start the swop take the lid of your PIR and then go and enter your user code, this will silence any internal sounders (unless the system is armed the external bell will not operate unless some donkey has programmed it too, highly unlikely)then swop the unit over as advised.
