What can I use instead of AV receiver?
While there are plenty of alternatives to AV receivers, they’re still the way to go for some setups, such as:
- A traditional 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound system.
- Systems that include more devices than the television has inputs.
- Wall-mounted TVs with many peripheral devices (to avoid unsightly cables)
Why does my Onkyo surround sound not work?
If you have turned B “on” the receiver shuts down the surround channels. If that isn’t the problem, make sure none of the speakers are actually wired into speaker B on the back panel. That was it after I read the manual last night going through all connections etc.
How can I get my Onkyo headphones to work?
Unplug headphones from the receiver when you are trying to use your system with the external speakers. Press the “Muting” button on the remote control to unmute your Onkyo receiver. Check the inputs and outputs to ensure they are correctly connected to the receiver. Adjust the volume controls so you can hear sound.
How to set up fire stick to Onkyo surround sound?
If your sources are connected directly to the TV and the audio output of the TV is connected to the Onkyo then connect the Firestick to the TV. If your sources are connected directly to the Onkyo and the video output of that is connected to the TV then connect the Firestick to the Onkyo.
What should the input signal be on Onkyo?
The digital input signal should be set to “Auto.” Select the correct digital input source. Unplug headphones from the receiver when you are trying to use your system with the external speakers. Press the “Muting” button on the remote control to unmute your Onkyo receiver.

Why does Windows 7 not recognize Onkyo receiver?
You are right, UPnP would be the main suspect. Did you mean driver for the “sound card” instead of the video card? Onkyo does not provide windows drivers for the receiver. Windows 7 automatically installed its own Microsoft “High definition audio device” driver.
