What does it mean when your alarm is not working?

Alarm systems need electricity for everyday operation, so if your alarm isn’t getting any power, it will alert you to let you know something is wrong. Sometimes alarm keypads will display a “AC loss” or “No AC” signal if it’s lost electrical current.

Can a scantronic 9651 be used to silence an alarm?

I live in a rental property which has a Scantronic 9651 alarm fitted. Recently we were burgled, and it appears that the burglars knew the Installer’s Code (not the User 01 code, which we changed on moving in) and were able to use it to silence the alarm while they went about the house.

When does an old alarm system need to be replaced?

When the battery is low or dead in an old alarm system, the system will start beeping to alert you that it needs to be replaced. If your battery is low, it will either need to be disconnected or replaced.

What to do if your home security alarm keeps beeping?

If you’re sure it’s your home security alarm chirping, read on to see how to stop it and figure out the problem. If your security system is monitored, always contact your alarm company and/or your monitoring station for help with a beeping keypad.

What to do if your alarm doesn’t go off?

If you are up a ladder by the bell box when the alarm goes off, it is quite unpleasant, so if you intend to cut the power to an alarm, first go into engineering mode, then go up the wall and remove the cover to the bell and isolate the bell battery, then the SABM won’t go off when you remove the main battery.

Can a Eng code turn off an alarm?

If turned ON with a User code, an Eng code will NOT turn it off. I set the alarm using my user code then, when it went off, the engineer put in his code and the alarm sound stopped. However, walking into another zone set the alarm off again, although this could again be silenced by tapping in the engineer’s code.

Is it possible to change the installer’s code?

The log records the alarm going off, the relevant zone being omitted and alarm being reset. The engineer has been round and confirmed that this is what happened – we reproduced the circumstances – but insists that this should not be possible. My question is, is it possible to change the installer’s code?
