What’s the difference between a Denon and a Marantz?
I purchased the NR1609 to replace a working Denon AVR-989. I was attracted to the slimmer profile of the Marantz and its updated feature set. I gave it several listens in a Best Buy Magnolia showroom, but was hesitant to move forward due to the 50W per channel power rating, by contrast the Denon is 115w per channel.
When did I get my Marantz AV receiver?
I received my new Marantz 1609 on Friday, Sept. 14, and set it up that evening. It was an easy set up and its many hdmi ports helped me to cut down on wires. After setup and adjustment, the sound through the speakers is very nice, as expected.

It’s an older model (STR-DE598) and I don’t have any issues with the cables or speakers… but the Marantz might be more sensitive to faulty cables or speakers. Do you recommend to test the amp without any cable connections?
