It was a HF all-mode Kenwood TS-940SAT that covers 10-160m. everyone was crowding around the shelf talking about the radio so I just grabbed it together with its Kenwood MC-60A desk microphone and SW-2000 SWR/Power meter. This is a really heavy rig with its built-in AC-DC power supply and transformer. Later I realized it weights 20 kilos or 44 lbs!

What happens if I Leave my Kenwood 940 on for 24 hours?

I found out that if I left the 940 on for 24 hours the battery recovered up to 1.8V and the sub display worked, for about 20 minutes, and then became scrambled letters again or just wont display anything. This confirmed that the batteries needed to be replaced.

The Kenwood TS-940S is the same as the TS-940SAT except without the automatic antenna tuner. The “AT” after the S is for Antenna Tuner.
