Why is my pioneer VSX not switching on?
With the power totally disconnected from the receiver, disconnect all the speaker cables from the receiver, reconnect the power to the receiver, switch on the power outlet (if this is the case where you are) and check if the receiver switches on OK. If it still doesn’t switch on, there is a fault in the receiver itself.

If it does shut down disconnect the other speaker. If it now turns on and stays on then the problem is with that speaker wire or speaker. It it still shuts down then the problem is internal to the receiver. Time to get a new one. Repair would likely cost way more than the unit is worth. First, I apologize for not responding sooner.

Why does my pioneer receiver shut off when I Turn on the TV?
because the receiver doesnt turn on when the television turns on, it is like saying the receiver would shut itself off to protect itself from damage.. but since it is already turned off, it simply remains turned off. could be a real problem with the televisions codes voltage. it could still be a problem with the receiver’s threshold value.
