What would cause a subwoofer not to work?

The most common cause of speaker failure is short-circuiting. A short circuit in the wires providing the signal will prevent the signal from ever reaching the subwoofer. A short circuit at the terminals on the subwoofer will also prevent electrical current and signal from reaching the subwoofer.

Why is there no bass coming from my subwoofer?

You need subs on a Low Pass Filter because subs are made to play the Low notes in a song. Make sure the amp is getting plenty of power. Make sure all fuses are good, all wires have good non corrded connections, make sure your ground is good and check all speaker wires. Also check your signal cables.

Why is my bass not working?

Another common cause of bad sound or no sound is an issue with your cables. Test out some different cables if you have them and you could have an easy fix. Bear in mind, because bass (and guitar) cables are unbalanced, they will pick up noise disturbance from other electrical equipment.

Why do my speakers have no bass?

The most common reason why no bass is coming out of your car speakers is that you inversed your speakers’ polarity by setting up the positive wire from the amplifier or receiver with the speaker’s negative terminal.

Why am I not getting power to my amp?

If the remote turn-on wire doesn’t have power, your amp won’t turn on. If it doesn’t, you’ll want to check for any inline fuses and verify that the wire isn’t loose, corroded, or shorted out somewhere. If the remote and power wires both check out okay, the next thing to look for is continuity on the ground wire.

How do I know if I have a bad ground amp?

Overheating, amp clipping, frequent activation of protection mode, irregular turn on/off, and burning smell are some of the common symptoms of bad ground on the amp. Amps tend to develop an issue that you only get to know when it stops working altogether. For instance, bad ground on the amp is a pretty common problem.

How do I fix my subwoofer without power?

If the subwoofer still doesn’t power on, try plugging it into a different outlet that you know works properly. As with the speaker wires, inspect the subwoofer’s power cable for any damage or defects. Some subwoofers are equipped with a fuse, which may or may not require removal of a back plate.

What does an external bass controller do for a subwoofer?

An external bass controller (EBC) will allow you to adjust the bass level without having to pull over and adjust the gain setting on the amplifier. However, a common misconception about EBC’s is that they are volume knobs for your subwoofers. It’s important that you understand what this little knob is actually doing to your audio signal.
