Where can I listen to NOAA Weather Radio?
On June 2012, a new Spanish NOAA Weather Radio station began broadcasting off a transmitter in Hialeah. This Spanish language transmitter serves Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. Since 1975, NOAA Weather Radio has been the sole Government-operated radio system providing direct warnings for both natural disasters and nuclear attack.
What can you do with an emergency radio?
This is a unit designed to be used for many purposes, both within your household and out. It features access to the NOAA emergency weather broadcast which keeps you abreast with all the happenings on both AM and Fm stations, to keep you safe at all times. The radio offers you three power sources thanks to its solar panel and crank lever.
How often do the weather warnings come on the radio?
Weather messages are repeated every 4 to 6 minutes and are routinely updated every 1 to 3 hours or more frequently when severe weather strikes. During severe weather, NWS forecasters can interrupt the routine weather broadcasts and insert special warning messages concerning imminent threats to life and property.
Is there an emergency radio that is waterproof?
The FosPower Emergency Radio comes with an IPX3 water-resistance rating allowing it to still function after being sprayed with water from an angle of 60 degrees or less. While this device isn’t 100% waterproof, it still provides more protection than other competitors while offering similar features and functionality.
