Make sure the home theater or stereo system is set to the appropriate input and mode for the optical connection. Make sure the optical cable is firmly connected to both the TV and the home theater or stereo system. Try changing the channel on the TV to another digital broadcast.
Why does my Spectrum cable box have no sound?

How do I know if my digital optical cable is bad?
If a lot of red light is visible, the connector is bad and should be replaced. If you look from the other end and see light coming only out of the fiber, that indicates a good connector. If the whole ferrule glows, it’s bad.
Why does one channel have no sound?
If you have audio on most channels, but have silence on some or all of your local network channels, you may have the Secondary Audio Programming (SAP) turned ON. What are the common problems with optical audio?

Is there no volume control on optical audio?

Is this because you only want to sell new gear?
