Why does my amp keep cutting off when I turn it up?
Solution: This can be caused by too low of an impedance from the way the speakers are wired, and sometimes a poor charging system (if the amp goes into protect when the volume is turned up). That’s the most common cause for an amplifier to go into protection.
Why does my home theater receiver keep shutting down?
If you don’t have a meter to check resistance of your speaker wire you might try disconnecting one speaker at a time from the receiver and see if the problem persists. This could lead you to a short in one of your speaker wires. Is you receiver in a cabinet that could cause heat to shut it down.

What should I do if my stereo receiver keeps turning itself off?
A sudden power disruption from your stereo receiver represents a potentially serious problem even if it only occurs intermittently. You should identify the cause of the problem and fix it promptly to avoid damaging your equipment. It’s always good practice to make sure your equipment is off before you start poking around and testing connections.
What should I do if my amplifier won’t turn on?
If staying on, reconnect one speaker at a time, turn volume levels up and down as you add more speakers. If amplifier turns itself off when speakers connected, check their impedance, check the wiring of the speaker that caused it to stop working.

Why does my amplifier turn on then shut off?
Jeff, According to some forums, etc. that I read possible causes are amp. shutting off, is over heating, speakers are the wrong impedance 4 Ohms instead of 8, too many speakers connected to a channel, damaged/pinched/frayed wire. Disconnect all speaker wires from the amplifier, see if it still shutting off.
