Why does my sub shut off?
Raise the level of the sub in the receiver and adjust accordingly on the sub’s amp itself to compensate so you are at the same calibrated level. When a sub shuts off like that, it is usually because either the output voltage from the receiver is too low.
How do I get my subwoofer unstuck?
It is recommended that you detach the car subwoofer, use glue, and also replace the foam to unfreeze a car subwoofer. On the other hand, the car subwoofers get blown due to too much intensity and high volume. In these cases, people try to unclog or unfreeze by tapping their hands on it.
How to troubleshoot a subwoofer that turns off?
If this is the case, set the Power Save switch to the OFF position to prevent the subwoofer from turning off by itself. Check the cables or speaker wires for proper connection between the subwoofer and the main unit. If using an active subwoofer, ensure it is connected to a working AC outlet.
Is the energy ew-100 subwoofer still connected?
Recently, while using my Energy EW-100 Subwoofer (connected to a VSX-822 A/V receiver), it all of a sudden cut out. The subwoofer itself is still intact (no holes or perforations in it) but it won’t turn on, aka no power light on at all.
Can a subwoofer have a bad power suppply?
@falita without having a proper schematic etc. but by looking at the board, I’d replace the 3 caps and 1 resistor for sure. This could just be normal for this board but it sure looks like some electrolytic residue from a bad cap. Once you replaced those, reevaluate. Yes, it is okay to go with higher values, just never lower.
How can I tell if my Sony subwoofer is active?
Sony® receivers will send a simulated LFE signal to the subwoofer and the SW indicator will light up. Verify the subwoofer power cord is plugged into an active AC outlet and that the subwoofer is powered on. If the subwoofer does not have a power cord, then it is a passive subwoofer. In that case, you will need to purchase an active subwoofer.
