Why is my new lamp not working?

If your lamp does not illuminate, then a faulty bulb, a faulty power outlet, a faulty switch, a faulty light socket, a faulty plug, a faulty brass tab, or a faulty cord may be the issue. You will need to troubleshoot the issue to fix the lamp.

How do you check if a photocell is working?

What does power to the fixture, but no light mean?

Re: Power to the fixture, but no light. You could also take the switch out of the circuit, touch the two wires together and see if the fixture works properly. If so, that tells you that the switch is still the issue. If it doesn’t work, but, you have power, the neutral may be the problem as suggested above. Be careful. Bob.

Why do I have power but no light?

It’s not enough to just have power coming in, it has to be able to flow back out, too. It flows out on the neutral. You can use your meter to check for 120v. between the known hot wire and the related neutral. Since you’ve been accessing both the fixture and the switch, a neutral problem would most likely be in the connections there.
